Jean Lowrie-Chin
Founder and Managing Director
Jean is widely regarded as one of the foremost communications professionals in the Caribbean. She launched PRO Communications Ltd in December 1978. Previously, she held posts in the media and advertising, taught at Calabar High School, and was Director of Public Relations for CARIFESTA '76.
Mrs. Lowrie-Chin holds Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in the Arts from the University of the West Indies. She is a former President and member of the Public Relations Society of Jamaica (1983-1985). She is currently a member of the Advertising Agencies Association of Jamaica (AAAJ) and Chairman of the Association’s Media Awards Committee. She is also a life member of Women's Media Watch and a member of the Press Association of Jamaica. Mrs. Lowrie-Chin’s extensive voluntary contributions include serving as Chairman of the Stella Maris Foundation, and as a Board Member of St. George’s College and Food For the Poor.
She is also a member of the National Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee, the Jamaica Family Planning Association, the National Consumers League and the Jamaica Environmental Trust.
She created Flair magazine for the Gleaner and has been writing a weekly column for the Jamaica Observer since 2002. She also spearheaded the new format Catholic Opinion in Sunday Gleaner. Her poems have been published and broadcast in the Jamaican media since the 1970s, and are soon to be available in a published collection.
A devout Roman Catholic, Mrs. Lowrie-Chin is a Lector and Sunday School teacher at the Stella Maris Church. She is married to Hubert Chin, Director of Administration at PROComm. They have a daughter and a son.
