FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DIGICEL LAUNCHES RISING STARS VALENTINES CONCERT COMPETITION14 Hopeful High Schools Island-wideLove is in the air, or at least in the stars. Digicel launched its ALL-STAR Rising Stars Valentines concert competition on January 10, giving 14 High Schools, one from each parish, a chance to win the ultimate free All Star Valentine’s Day concert. High schools from across the island entered the competition in hopes of winning the concert, and through a raffle, one school was chosen to represent each parish. Paula Pinnock MacLeod, series Executive Producer and Digicel Marketing Project Manager comments “High school students are avid Rising Stars fans. They supported the show throughout the series and this is our way of saying thank you. What makes this an even bigger and better event is that that our 2007 Rising Star, Romain Virgo, is a High School student”. The public can show their support for their favourite High School by texting 444-2418 with the corresponding number. The school that gets the most votes between January 11 and February 9 will be the grand prize winner.
This is the second year that Digicel has held this event. Last year the parish of St. Elizabeth voted and Black River High won the competition. The students along with their teachers, families and friends were entertained for over three hours by their favourite Rising Stars. In addition to the all star concert Digicel presented Black River High with computers for their computer lab.
The Digicel Valentine’s Day showcase on the day of love will feature performances from Rising Stars Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin, One Third, Nickeishia Barnes, Jodian Pantry, Inga Stewart, Lenya Wilks, O’Neil Peart, Tashina McKenzie, Micheala Jack, Kareen “Kaye” Ricketts and Deh Deh.
